The FCER Evidence-Based Resource Center and DCConsultSM DCConsultSM is a new web site designed to meet the needs of the chiropractic profession. It is the tangible presence of FCER's Evidence-Based Resource Center (EB-RC). It provides doctors with timely and accurate information that will minimize risk and foster the best possible patient care. The content includes reviews of the scientific literature related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of common clinical conditions. Other content includes customized patient handouts, articles from experts in the field, pre-defined Manual, Alternative and Natural Therapy Index SystemTM (MANTIS) and Medline/PubMed searches, critical product reviews, and more. (See DCConsultSM screen shots.)
Special sections will be available
to address the needs of students, faculty, as well as national and
international organizations. Please join us and encourage your
colleagues to join the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and
Research (FCER) in our efforts to better serve your needs and that
of your patients. The primary delivery vehicle for this information will be DCConsultSM – an Internet-based professional practice web site and electronic library housing all the published research relevant to chiropractic. With the new professional focus on how practicing doctors of chiropractic can use research results in daily practice – evidence-based health care – research results can be used to:
What Is It? The center will be a resource beyond the typical database of research citations. Components will include a web site that:
The center also will be:
What Does It Look Like? The center is made up of three functioning divisions:
Summary FCER’s EB-RC will become the centralized advisory resource for chiropractic educational and research institutions and the gateway, repository and sharing medium for chiropractic research and data. The data will serve as a reference library to legal, regulatory and legislative needs as well. Phase II will expand to include information with other alternative health care professions (e.g., acupuncture, massage therapy et al). Phase III will be all inclusive of manual medicine, nutrition, wellness and so on. A profession whose practices are based on the best evidence ultimately will better serve the patient. This is FCER's mission, vision and role. |
