CCCRC
Biannual Research Symposium
A
research symposium by the CCCRC will provide an exchange of
scientific ideas and offer relevant information for chiropractic
practice.
Highlights:
Research.
The International Conference on Spinal Manipulation (ICSM), is the
multidisciplinary, research-oriented conference hosted by the
Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER). The
research projects to be presented in both platform and poster format
represent the gratifying culmination of a rapidly growing
infrastructure that has benefited from deeper and more diverse
sources of support in recent years. The rigor and variety of
research undertakings described in the program will challenge the
intellect and imagination as to what additional areas should be
investigated.
Practice.
For practicing chiropractors, the conference program will be
enhanced with the 8th Annual Conference on Advancements in
Chiropractic, hosted by Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC).
In addition, the Consortium of Canadian Chiropractic Research
Centres (CCCRC) will host a Special Consortium Seminar on Canadian
Research.
CMCC's
program will also feature discussions on chiropractic's
evidence-based role in various diseases and conditions, including
cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, cancer prevention, and
diabetes. Aspects of chiropractic care beyond manipulation will also
be presented, such as exercise prescription and nutrition
CVA
Risk Management. The program will include a CVA Risk Management
seminar presented by Scott Banks, D.C. This part of the program is
particularly timely in light of recent negative articles regarding
chiropractic and stroke that have originated from a group of
Canadian neurologists. Dr. Greg Dunn, Chief Operating
Officer for the Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association (CCPA)
will be presenting for one hour with Dr. Banks during this seminar.
Central
Location. The conference will be held at the Metro Toronto
Convention Centre with special conference hotel rates arranged with
the Crowne Plaza Toronto Centre (attached to the convention centre).
The facilities are located in Toronto's entertainment district, near
the waterfront and the famed CN Tower.
FCER
Reception. The conference will be preceded by a reception and
FCER's annual membership meeting on Thursday, October 3. All
conference attendees and FCER members are invited to attend.
