Standard Process Signs on as First
Sustaining Founding Sponsor with $150,000 Contribution to
FCER’s New DCConsultSM Resource Center
Standard Process, Inc.®, a Wisconsin-based
manufacturer of nutritional whole food supplements and a
long-time chiropractic benefactor, has become the first
Sustaining Founding Sponsor of DCConsultSM, the new online
clinician/patient/research resource center launched by the
Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER).
The generous contribution is intended to help in the
continuing development and expansion of this new web site,
now available by subscription. This sponsorship from
Standard Process is the first major financial show of
corporate support for FCER’s new Evidence-Based Resource
Center (EB-RC), of which DCConsult, is the
first iteration.
“This major financial gift signals the reinforcement of the
fast-growing support FCER is experiencing as it forges its
new direction in translating evidence-based research into
practice,” Charles R. Herring, DC, FCER President, said.
“This wonderful corporate contribution from a great company
such as Standard Process will allow FCER to grow the new EB-RC
and DCConsult, which ultimately will benefit our patients,”
he added.
“Standard Process is pleased to support the FCER. We are
excited to be part of emerging technology that makes it
easier for health care professionals to provide patients
with timely and accurate, evidence-based research on the
value of chiropractic and nutritional care,” Charlie DuBois,
Standard Process President, said.
DCConsult, is a web-based resource center that provides
chiropractors and health care professionals with information
to help minimize risk and foster the best possible patient
care. Content includes reviews of the scientific literature
indexed from over 1,000 journals related to the prevention,
diagnosis and treatment of common clinical conditions.
Customizable patient handouts also are available at the
site, www.dcconsult.com.
The resource center will grow to feature special sections to
address the needs of students, faculty as well as
chiropractic organizations worldwide.
“Standard Process’s regard for research and its first-hand
knowledge of the price of quality research are qualities
unexcelled by others,” Ronald C. Evans, DC, FACO, FICC, FCER
Vice President, said. “Its founder, Dr. Royal Lee, believed
in the value of scientifically researched, nutritional whole
food supplements. Dr. Lee began his career as FCER was
beginning its, and while our two paths may have crossed
numerous times over the years, this gift is concrete
evidence of our mutual respect, admiration and belief in
scientific underpinnings in human health care. I believe
Standard Process is representative of the highest caliber of
an organization at the leading edge of meeting the need for
evidence-based research,” he added.
For more than 75 years, Standard Process has provided health
care professionals with high-quality, nutritional whole food
supplements. The company is involved in every step of
production, from growing crops on company-owned, organically
certified farmland, to utilizing state-of-the-art
manufacturing processes to employing the highest quality
control standards, according to the company. Standard
Process strictly adheres to the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration’s good manufacturing practice requirements.
Its products are available only through health care
professionals.
FCER is the chiropractic profession’s oldest not-for-profit
foundation, serving the profession since 1944. Based in
Norwalk, Iowa, FCER has as its mission to “Translate
Research into Practice” by granting funds for research and
producing practitioner and patient educational materials
including teleconferences, CDs, books and pamphlets. FCER
developed the DCConsult, web site as part of its
Evidence-Based Resource Center, an online source for
clinical and patient education information.
