In announcing the award, FCER recognized Dr. Mancini as an individual who has a true vision for the chiropractic profession’s future. “Dr. Mancini has been a great friend to FCER, not only as a member of the Board of Trustees, but as a President’s Council Member for the past seven years,” Charles R. Herring, DC, FCER President, said. “His commitment to FCER has helped make this a stronger organization as it moves into new directions and initiatives. Especially important to FCER has been his support of FCER’s Evidence-Based Resource Center and the new patient-clinician web site, DCConsultSM. The center has become a reality because of the collaboration among FCER; Dr. Mancini; Ron Rupert, DC, Dean of Research at Parker college, and others who understand FCER’s vision and physically and financially have helped make it a reality,” he added. “We encourage others to follow Dr. Mancini’s example in his unselfish support of FCER.” In addition to Dr. Mancini’s commitment to FCER, his work for chiropractic education and research was also highlighted. Dr. Herring noted Dr. Mancini’s willingness to hire fulltime staff to develop research literature reviews and his encouragement of the use of evidence in the college’s educational programs, even mandating its inclusion in Parker’s clinic. Reed Phillips, DC, PhD, FCER’s Research Committee Chairperson and former president of Southern California University of Health Sciences, said, “Dr. Mancini is truly setting a high standard for students. He has seen the importance of research and also has made major investments of time and energy in helping with the development of additional institutions for chiropractic education worldwide.” FCER is the chiropractic profession’s oldest not-for-profit foundation, serving the profession since 1944. Based in Norwalk, Iowa, FCER has as its mission to “Translate Research into Practice” by granting funds for research and producing practitioner and patient educational materials including teleconferences, CDs, books and pamphlets. FCER developed the DCConsult web site as part of its Evidence-Based Resource Center, an online source for clinical and patient education information. -30- |
