What About HIPAA1 and Privacy?

Good news! Use of Chiropractic HealthWays® Newsletter DOES NOT violate HIPAA regulations in the area of Marketing, even if the doctor’s name and practice information are mentioned.

Material published by the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services states, "population-based activities in the areas of health education or disease prevention" are not considered marketing when they promote health in a general manner. Consequently, the forwarding of Chiropractic HealthWays® to your patient population is acceptable.

Further, OCR states that Marketing prohibitions do not apply in circumstances where "a covered entity describe[s] its products or services that are provided by the covered entity to its patients..." Therefore, a chiropractor can send a newsletter generally addressing health issues and chiropractic treatment.

How Do I Begin?

The first step in subscribing to Chiropractic HealthWays® is to download and send us your order form, telling us:

  2. How many you need

  3. How you want to distribute it to your patients - authorize FCER to either bulk-ship the entire quantity to your office for your distribution, or handle all the details for you and send it directly to your mailing list
